Introducing: Unimatic And Henry Singer Announce The Mechanical Modello Tre U3S-HS
What We Know
Last week, Unimatic released its first mechanical chronograph in a new collaboration with Canadian menswear retailer Henry Singer, with the Modello Tre ref. U3S-HS. Well, technically, it’s not the first ever — that would go to the piece unique U3S-TFA introduced last year, which sold at the Swiss Institute’s Time for Art auction, hammering a hair over $20,000, with proceeds going to the Swiss Institute’s programs.

It is no surprise, of course, that we would see a public version of the mechanical Modello Tre chronograph down the line, after the success of that lot. While the piece unique was a stark black and white, this public version tones down the contrast for a ghostly all-grey look, accented with white printing. This all sits within a classically Unimatic chunky steel case, 40mm in diameter and 15.2mm tall. It is complemented by a grey ceramic diving bezel insert, with Super-LumiNova infilled in the markers. A screw-down crown and oversized screw-down pushers ensure the watch has a 300m water resistance.
Turn the U3S-HS around, and you’ll find a sapphire exhibition caseback, a feature not commonly seen on Unimatics. Behind it lies the familiar Sellita SW510 BH B automatic chronograph movement, featuring a 62-hour power reserve. The U3S-HS comes on a fully brushed steel bracelet and an extra gray leather two-piece strap. It’s limited to 36 pieces in total and priced at €2950, available through both Unimatic and Henry Singer’s stores.
What We Think
It was only a matter of time before the folks at Unimatic would introduce a mechanical counterpart to their Modello Tre chronograph after years of offering a Mecaquartz variant. It’s a very sleek design to match the brutalist case aesthetic, but then again, we folks at the ‘Dink tend to like things in all grey.

The first Unimatic collaboration with Henry Singer was an absolute home run — I believe it was the first time we saw a GMT version of the fixed-bezel Modello Quattro. The bead-blasted steel case, complemented by beige accents, made for a very attractive look. This new Modello Tre continues that grey look but opts for a much colder tone.
Make no mistake, this is a large watch. The male endlinks on the bracelet certainly ensure a large fit, so if you’re like me and the Modello Uno is just skirting the feeling of being oversized, the mechanical Modello Tre might be harder to pull off. However, for the many Unimatic collectors with normal or larger-sized wrists, this will certainly be a fun and unquestionably Unimatic wearing experience.
