Introducing: The Rolex GMT-Master II Left Hand In White Gold With Green Dial
What We Know
Two years after the launch of the first modern left-handed Rolex GMT-Master II, the model takes on a new case material in white gold with the same green and black bezel and new green dial made of high-technology ceramic. While the bezel color remains the same, the wearing experience should be significantly different in the new heavier material.

The big thing here is the new dial, which is a made in the same way as stone dials: fitting a disc of material onto a brass plate. Because it’s made as the same Cerachrom material of as the bezel, the watch should match the shade of green. The watch features the Caliber 3285 movement that gives 70 hours of power reserve and the Superlative Chronometer certification of +/- 2 seconds per day, with a “flyer” independent-setting hour hand and a 24-hour hand. The date, like the crown, is on the 9 o’clock side of the movement for this “lefty” GMT.

The “Lefty” GMT-Master II in white gold (ref. 126729VTNR) is CHF 44,500. The watch should be in stores right now so if you move quick enough, you never know. You might just get lucky.
What We Think
If it wasn’t the year that Rolex announced the biggest technical achievement and change in the last few decades (a natural escapement found in the Land Dweller), the use of a new dial material would be one of the biggest pieces of news for a company that is more about small, iterative improvements. Is a Cerachrom dial the way people expected Rolex to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the GMT-Master II. Definitely not. Is it still cool? Definitely.

A glossy ceramic texture green is an interesting choice for the GMT. But after the black dial white gold Pepsi was replaced by the blue dial and the meteorite dial came back, it makes sense that Rolex would trend louder and louder with a generally otherwise reserved collection.
