What We Know

Patek Philippe adds a new reference to the Ladies’ Nautilus Luce lineup with the release of the 7010G-013. This version brings a white gold case, a lacquered azure blue dial with the familiar wave pattern, and a matching blue composite strap. Following the 2023 rose gold variants with purple lacquered dials (7010R-013 on strap and 7010/1R-013 on bracelet), the 7010G-013 continues Patek’s gradual expansion of the Luce series, which has served as the modern, gem-set counterpart to the classic Nautilus for women since the early 2000s.

The 7010G-013 features a 32mm white gold case, 6.9mm thick, with the signature Nautilus porthole construction. The octagonal bezel is set with 46 brilliant-cut diamonds totaling 0.8 carats, and the case combines polished and satin finishes. Water resistance is rated at 30 meters. The watch is equipped with Caliber E23-250 S C, a quartz movement that’s been in use by Patek since the early 1990s.  It displays hours, minutes, central seconds, and a date at 3 o’clock, framed in white gold.

The dial is  finished in lacquered azure blue with the signature Nautilus “wave” embossing. Applied Arabic numerals and ogival-shaped hour markers in white gold are filled with white Super-LumiNova, as are the alpha-style hands. The strap is a composite material with a fabric-style pattern and secures with a white gold fold-over Nautilus clasp. A version of this reference is also available on a white gold bracelet — the 7010/1G-013 — for those who prefer a full-metal configuration.

What We Think

The baby-sized Nautilus story starts with the Ref. 4700, a quartz-powered 27mm piece introduced in 1980 — just a few years after the OG Ref. 3700 was released. It had all the same Nautilus DNA: the porthole case, the integrated bracelet, the horizontal embossing on the dial — just scaled way down for the era’s tastes. “Ladies'” watches back then were daintier — some would say dinkier. I say “cocktail adjacent” (think Alexis Carrington Colby from Dynasty for reference).

Over the decades, though, as the collecting world started embracing bigger cases and women gravitated toward more substantial watches, the Ladies’ Nautilus followed suit — slowly, deliberately. Sizes bumped up to 28mm, then 30mm, and by the time we got to the 7010 in 2006, we were at a very wearable 32mm. Through it all, Patek kept the core design language intact while layering in touches like diamond bezels, colored lacquer dials, and composite straps. It’s a quiet evolution — not a revolution — but one that reflects the way real people wear watches now. And the evolution of ladies’ SKUs in the catalog has clearly been a commercial success. Its mechanical cousin, the ref.7118, is certainly a popular choice in all of its iterations. I spot her in the wild — with and without diamonds — on the regular.

I have a soft spot for baby Nautili. And although I would love to see a smaller Nautilus with a mechanical movement, the 7010G-013 serves its purpose well: a high-quality, well-finished quartz sports watch with a strong design lineage. It’s for collectors who value the core design of the Nautilus and appreciate Patek’s execution — regardless of movement type.
