Introducing: Citizen Unveils “Sea of Silence” Collection Featuring Six New Limited Models With Blue Structural Color Dials

What We Know

To kick off the summer, Citizen Watches has launched its new UNITE with BLUE limited edition collection, featuring six new “Sea of Silence” models. The collection showcases deep blue dials inspired by the shimmering blue sea, using pigment-free ink with microstructures that create subtle color changes in response to light reflections, producing a range of mesmerizing blue hues and tones that mimic the ocean’s ever-changing moods, the perfect complement to a summer spent outdoors, on (or under) the water.

The “Sea of Silence” collection spans multiple Citizen lines, including ATTESA, Promaster, PCAT, xC, and Citizen L, with each model employing different dial designs and processing techniques. The watches feature case materials ranging from Super Titanium (it wouldn’t be a Citizen release without it) to stainless steel options. Most models incorporate a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating, while case diameters vary from 27mm in the women’s xC model to 46mm in the Promaster Dive. The Citizen L and xC lines models also feature diamonds representing air bubbles rising from the ocean depths.

All six models in the collection are powered by Citizen’s Eco-Drive technology, which harnesses light as a clean energy source, eliminating the need for battery replacements. The collection includes various movement options, from the F950 Satellite Wave GPS in the ATTESA flagship model (accurate to ±5 seconds per month) to radio-controlled movements with perpetual calendars and world time functionality. The Promaster Dive model features ISO-standard water resistance to 300m for saturation diving, while other models offer 50-100 meters of water resistance. Full specs on these models are below.

Each watch has a bracelet or strap matched to its respective models, including Super Titanium bracelets for the ATTESA models, a lightweight and durable material that is exclusive to Citizen, stainless steel for most others, and a biomass-based polyurethane (BENEBiOL) strap for the Promaster Dive, a sustainable material made from renewable resources. The collection is scheduled for launch in June 2025 with limited worldwide quantities ranging from 1,200 to 5,500 pieces, at prices from $625 for the Citizen L model to $1,995 for the top-tier ATTESA Satellite Wave GPS.

What We Think

A few weeks ago, I saw firsthand how Citizen blends innovation and sustainability into watchmaking when I attended their event celebrating their 55th anniversary of using titanium. This has been a theme within the company since it introduced Eco-Drive technology in 1976, and this collection certainly upholds those traditions.

For me, the standout is the xC, with the Diamond Bubbles (as I’ve been referring to it internally) floating to the top. It’s playful in a subtle way that says I like to dive, but I also like to have a Mai Tai on the beach. It is also the most limited of the bunch, with only 1200 pieces being made.

With the various sizes and designs, this collection has something for everyone. It’s no coincidence this collection debuts in June – Citizen clearly understands what watch fans crave for summer: vibrant blue dials that capture the essence of ocean adventures and sunny days by the water.
