Happenings: Inaugural Milano Watch Week To Take Place In October
This fall, a new watch event will kick off in Italy that aims to bring watch lovers and major brands together in a global capital of fashion and design – Milan. Events like Dubai Watch Week and the recent change to opening Watches & Wonders to the public have done a lot to bring brands and collectors closer together. Now folks in Italy (and anyone who can get to Milan) will have a chance to see a lot of top-tier brands all in one place.
If you’ve been to Milan, you’ll certainly recognize the bright glowing beacon on top of this famous building in the middle.
While the daily event schedule is still being finalized, the event will take place from October 4-6 at the famed Terrazza Martini, and registration is already open. The 20 participating brands are listed on the event website, focusing on independents like MB&F, Urwerk, Parmigiani Fleurier, and more. Organizers promise a chance to see some of the brands’ best offerings and participate in talks, presentations, and discussions. Then there’s the added bonus of being in one of the world’s biggest hearts of food, art, and tailoring.
If you’re lucky, MB&F might bring out the HM-11 called “The Architect.”
It’s no secret that I am a big lover of Italy – in fact, it’s an ongoing joke at Hodinkee – and of Italian collecting. While it is largely known for being early in building the vintage watch market, Italy is still a force shaping what is cool and in demand today. I’m not sure yet if I’ll be able to attend but if I can, I’ll be looking forward to meeting some of our Italian readers.
