Introducing: Naoya Hida Launches Its Fourth Series, Now With A 36mm Case
The man behind Naoya Hida & Co. – Naoya Hida – has a long background in watches, working at Breguet, Vacheron Constantin, F.P. Journe, and Ralph Lauren Watches & Jewelry. No doubt his time at these brands shaped his view on what a watch should look like – traditional, classic, even a little simple. Collectors like Eric Ku and The Armoury’s Mark Cho have spoken highly of the brand – the finishing, hand-engraved details, and the vintage-inspired-yet-modern aesthetic. Certainly, Naoya Hida takes inspiration from elements of the vintage Pateks, Vacherons, and other three-handers that I and many others love, but these have been reworked with modern techniques and with Hida’s own Japanese point of view on watchmaking. It’s vintage-inspired, but not overly done. And the most important thing about those vintage watches is the attention watchmakers paid to every single detail – something Naoya Hida has done with every series of its watches.
